How to Survive Christmas in a Small Business

Christmas is an amazing, wonderful, crazy, stressful time of the year, especially you run your own business. Many entrepreneurs have a hard time surviving the Holiday rush or slow down.  It’s not too late to make a plan and keep your head in the game this Holiday Season.  Here’s some helpful advice to survive and thrive during these last days of the year.

Plan for a break.

There’s still time to get your list of priorities that need to be done before Christmas.  Be sure to delegate as much as possible.  It’s ok to enlist help and trust someone else to help get things done when it’s crazy busy!  Plan ahead and make the details are taken care of so you can actually relax and take some well-earned time off for yourself and those around you!  Many small business owners don’t take time to rest and recuperate or enjoy the holiday season.  Be sure to take a minute or two to stop and smell the pine trees!

Offer Special Deals.

Make sure you spread the word about any great deals you are offering for Christmas and after Christmas shoppers. buy-startup, business-Share on social media!  Many people are happy and have a sense of feeling more festive.  Take this opportunity to engage your customers and keep them coming back!

Automate your business.

If you haven’t done it yet, now is a perfect time to get it started!  Take a few minutes and think of processes you do every day over and over.  Where could you save a little time if it was automated?  Now is a great time to analyze your business processes and see where you could streamline some of your tasks to improve your overall profitability.  It might be too late for this Christmas but it can make a difference for next year or maybe your next busy season.

Offer Excellent Customer Service

Be the one place that is friendly and happy to serve others!  Your attitude can really impact your customers when they feel stressed and overwhelmed with the busyness of the season.  Offer to help solve a problem.  Take a moment to listen to their complaints, I mean really listen!  Let them know you appreciate their business and give them some encouragement.  Bring on the Christmas cheer. Even if your customers don’t celebrate this Holiday, you might be able to lift their spirits and spread some joy.

Take time to plan for the future
